American Ornithological Union Meeting
Aug 4-7 2008
This is our first year displaying the Kowa product line at the American Ornithological Union Meeting.  This will be a joint meeting between the AOU, Cooper Ornithological Society, and the Society of Canadian Ornithologists (Societe des Ornithologistes du Canada). The meeting location is: Hilton Portland Executive Towers and the AOU website is http://www.pdxbirds08.org/ .  This requires pre-registration.  Come try out one of the Kowa optics on the daily bird walks!

Southwest Wings

Kowa’s first time at this 17th annual event in southeastern Arizona will prove to be worthwhile to all festival attendees.  In addition to an opportunity to browse the entire product line, you can also borrow a binocular or a scope for the day and try it out in the field.  Visit the Kowa booth and enter for a chance to win our new BD25 binocular and a Kowa t-Shirt and cap.  You’ll be the talk of the festival!  We’ll also have a BD25 binocular in the silent auction.  More information on the Southwest Wings website at: http://www.swwings.org/

Pt. Pelee Digiscoping Weekend

Monterey Bay Birding Festival

The Monterey Bay Birding Festival will be an exciting event and Kowa is thrilled to be attending for the first time.  Located in Watsonville , CA , the festival will feature birdwatching trips on land and on the high seas.  Kowa’s own Jim Danzenbaker will be co-leading pelagic trips on September 25 and 27 so you can have your optics questions answered while you enjoy the best that pelagic birding has to offer.  Jim will also be presenting a workshop on seabirds.  Stop by and check out this upcoming fantastic festival! http://www.montereybaybirding.org/

Western Field Ornithologists Meeting
Sept 26-28 2008
The Western Field Ornithologists meeting will be held in San Mateo and will feature field trips in the Bay Area to include several pelagic trips.  Kowa will be there with a table display of all of our binoculars and spotting scopes.  Kowa’s Sales Manager Jim Danzenbaker will be co-leading a pelagic trip on October 9.  More details on the WFO meeting can be found at http://www.westernfieldornithologists.org/08ac.php .

Kowa Days in the Field

We’re excited to be “On the Mountain” at Hawk Mountain both days of this weekend.  This will be prime time for raptor migration and songbirds will be moving through too!  Stop by the display in the Visitor’s Center, take a look at the entire range of Kowa binoculars and spotting scopes and take one up the mountain to use for several hours.  We’ll have a Kowa rep in the Visitor’s Center and one at the top of the Mountain to answer all your optics questions (and help out with identification too!).  Dress warm and bring your questions.  Products will be available for sale at the Hawk Mountain bookstore.  Hawk Mountain website is: http://www.hawkmountain.org/ .

Cape May Fall Weekend

This is the 62nd Annual Fall Weekend in Cape May , a location known for its incredible number of migrating raptors, waterfowl, and songbirds.  The geography of New Jersey funnels all these migrating birds to the southern tip where you will be standing with your Kowa optics to watch them fly overhead.  The weekend will include field trips and presentations.  Kowa’s Sales Manager, Jim Danzenbaker, will present a workshop on “How to Choose and Use Optics”.  Visit the Kowa booth located in the Wicker Room at the Grand Hotel and take a test drive in any of the range of Kowa’s binoculars and spotting scopes and watch the parade of Peregrines and Merlins wing their way southward.  Take a binocular out on one of the owl prowls and see how much light those Kowa bins deliver!  More details on the weekend at http://www.birdcapemay.org/autumn.shtml .

Rio Grande Valley Bird Festival

The 15th Annual Rio Grande Valley Bird Festival (RGVBF) will be a shining star on the festival calendar.  Come satisfy your appetite for neotropical birding with Green Jays, Plain Chachalacas, Aplomado Falcons and Altamira Orioles.  This will be Kowa’s 7th year at this event.  Once again, Kowa’s own Jim Danzenbaker will be leading field trips so he’ll be available for any of your optics questions.  Stop by the Kowa booth for more information.  Information on the RGVBF can be found at http://www.rgvbirdfest.com/ .
